What are the chances of me having herpes?

Me and my girlfriend have had (unprotected) sex twice. And i’ve gone down on her 3 or 4 times. She recently found out she has herpes. We’ve never done anything when she’s had an outbreak. She just got her first outbreak about 4 days ago.

    You might have infected by herpes! The virus are in her body all the time, you can be infected though she doesn’t get any outbreak.

    If you don’t have herpes, and she has had it all along, the chances are very low. With unprotected contact, the chance PER YEAR of regular contact is only about 5-10%.

    However, it is possible, if you are in an exclusive relationship, that she has caught it from you, so you need to get a herpes blood test ASAP. If your blood test is positive, that would mean you had already had the virus for at least 3-6 months.

    A primary outbreak of herpes usually shows up about 3-4 day on average after contact, but can show up 2-21 days after contact. If you did anything with her, such as perform oral sex on her, a few days before her symptoms started, consider it a possibility that this was the source. 8 out of 10 adults have oral herpes, and oral herpes can be passed to the genitals through oral sex. Worth checking it out. When I showed up with genital herpes, it was because my boyfriend got the occasional cold sore and he’d passed his oral herpes to my genitals, with no cold sore present.

    If you have sex when she doesn’t have signs of an out break then your chances are very low to contract herpes. She is only shedding the virus for a small number of days out of the year. Wait until her out breaks are completely gone then you may want to wait a few more days in case of viral shedding. If she is on medication then this even further reduced your risk of getting herpes.
    There is a chance that you could have herpes and possibly passed it onto her. Many people that have herpes had no idea they have it until they were tested for it. You may want to get your self tested for herpes so you know your own status. It’s possible that you (or a past partner) could have given her herpes, it only takes one time having oral sex or sexual intercourse to pass herpes on. Some times genital herpes comes from giving your partner oral sex when you have cold sores, which are in fact caused by oral herpes. They are contagious and extremely common to have. Most of the time they are contracted during child hood by innocently kissing or being kissed some one that has cold sores, the same could have happened to you.
