Can you get herpes by being in a swimming pool with someone who has an outbreak?

My best friend has genital herpes. We have been friends for years and I don’t judge her for this, we all make mistakes. My question is, she wants me and my daughter to come over to her house for a pool party. If she is having an outbreak (or even if she isn’t having an outbreak) and we are in the pool with her could we get it. I’m afraid to expose myself and my daughter, but don’t know how to ask her this with out hurting her feelings.

    No, the answer is NO. Haha. First of all, herpes is spread from DIRECT contact and second, the pool has chlorine that kills viruses and bacteria. Dont worry :)

    absolutly not!!

    you have nothing to worry about. the chlorine in the pool will kill any bacteria they may be in the pool. Even if there wasent chlorine in the pool there is no way of you gettinng the virus. It takes skin to skin contact to contract the herpes virus.

    I have genital herpes and was wondering the same question. i asked a doctor and the answer is no =]

    No but that cold sore that you had on your mouth, last week can give your boyfriend herpes, getting real how old are you
