What are the chances of herpes spreading when not having an outbreak?

Having it be months from having an outbreak, with everything crystal clear, feeling healthy, to have sex without a condom, I have a friend who has herpes and she said she’s been sleeping with someone without a condom for 8 months, and he has yet to be infected. I feel like they make it a much bigger deal then it is, when your not having an outbreak.

    Everybody makes herpes out to be a much bigger problem than it really is; probably because they know nothing about it and are ignorant! I’ve been told that it is fine to have unprotected sex if you are not having an outbreak. For people that have herpes and are simply asymptomatic, meaning they dont have any symptoms and never have; it is risky for them to have unprotected sex because you never know when they are shedding (which is when the virus is contagious). Therefore, since you haven’t had an outbreak the herpes is laying dormant right now and the chances of you spreading it are unlikely. However, you should let your partner know that you have herpes before having sex, just so he/she knows the risk. Good luck! Hope this helps!

    I didn’t know I had Herpes. I knew something was wrong, but it never dawned on me that I had it. I was married and faithful and all….duh! He wasn’t (faithful). I kept complaining that I felt sore down there and he never said a word. By the time I went into the doctor, it had gone dormant and I tested negative. It was like that for quite some time. I found out he was cheating on me and divorced him, still not realizing. It wasn’t until a year later that I finally tested positive, and since I had not had sex with anyone else since my divorce, I know it was him that gave me this parting “gift”. I got married again, and I told my husband when we started dating. He didn’t get Herpes for over 10 years and we never used protection. The farther away you get from the initial infection, the less the outbreaks are, but it is still possible to spread it even without having an outbreak, because that is what happened to us.

    Herpes does not go away. It is a life long commitment that can be passed on to others no matter how long it’s been since the last outbreak. I don’t understand why people don’t look s h i t up. If I was told I had it (or anything for that matter) I would jump right on the computer and read up on it until my eyes shriveled up, that way I would know exactly what I was dealing with and so I could tell my partner what to expect should he decide to go for a dip in that cesspool. People drive me absolutely bonkers sometimes. Ignorance is not bliss people, especially when dealing with others well being!!

    Tell your friend to get her s h i t together and do some funkin research!!
