If my GF has HSV2 on her lips and I have HSV2 downstairs what are the chances she gets HSV2 downstairs as well?

I have a sneaking suspicion that I may have HSV2, Im getting tested this week. My -artner already has it but it shows up as cold sores. After some oral sex while i had what the doctor said is probably only an ingrown hair, two days later she developed a cold sore, the biggest she said she has ever had. She has HSV2 on her lips. She told me that is what her doctor said, YOU CAN GET HSV2 that shows up as cold sores as well…..

    For starters, if you’re gf is having cold sores then she has HSV1, which is different than HSV2 (genital herpes). She has the oral kind which is very common and not considered an std. Oral herpes can not turn into genital herpes as they are two different strands of the herpes virus. However, if she has a cold sore and gives you oral sex then you can get oral herpes in your genitals. Again, this isn’t genital herpes, but the symptoms are similar (as in you could get sores). In most cases, when someone has oral herpes in their genital region the outbreaks are less common and less severe then genital herpes.
    The chances of her transmitted this though is slim as long as she doesn’t have a cold sore when she gives you oral. So rest easy, you shouldn’t have genital herpes, unless you got it from somewhere else or she has that as well. I’d still recommend getting tested so that you know for sure.

    For Mira…. Type 1 is known as cold sores which generally appears on the mouth and Type 2 is known to be of the genitals. However, you can get type 2 on the mouth and type 1 on the genitals, it’s transferred from oral sex, kissing, etc.
    Jaik… yes it is possible for her to also get it on her vagina at some point if it hasn’t already. Unfortunately there is no test that tells “where” on the body your herpes flare ups will occur, it only let’s you know which type. When herpes outbreaks occur, most people often think they are only experiencing a pimple or an ingrown hair. Herpes is spread thru skin on skin contact, known as viral shedding. Valtrex would be your best bet. As you know, it doesn’t cure herpes, but it does help suppress the virus and helps clear up your outbreak faster.
