i had herpes (hsv2) since july ad have been on valtrex since..i read up on it and learned that hsv2 gennerally likes to stay on the genitals, not the mouth…me and my boyfriend have had sex (oral also) many times since i found out thats what i have and i have never had a sore on my lip…we had sex and i did oral on him sunday and yesterday i noticed i have a bump on my lip (im also having an outbreak at the moment)…i have feelings that he’s unfaithful, so i mconfused right now….could he have caught hsv1 from someone else and that would be the reason for the bump on my lip….because i never got one before so i dont know what to think
i DO ONLY HAVE ONE SEXUAL PARTNER…THA SAME GUY THAT GAVE ME HSV2..MY BOYFRIEND

    It sounds like you caught it from somewhere. That’s why it’s important to have only one sexual partner.

    While HSV2 generally remains “dormant” in the sacral spine, which is why outbreaks occur in the genital reason. HSV1 generally resides in a bundle of nerves near the ear, which is why outbreaks will occur on the face, mouth, etc. HSV2 can manifest in other areas as well, including the lips. It would also not be unreasonable for you to have both types. HSV1 and cold sores are extremely common. It could also be a coincidence. If you have feelings he is being unfaithful, those need to be addressed regardless.
