Did I unknowingly infect my boyfriend with herpes?

Also, does anyone know the chances percentage wise, on the risk of catching herpes with or without a sore present and using a condom? I have hsv2 on valtrex. Before sex, I felt nothing. After sex, I noticed itching and redness on a small area of the “inside of the lips.” This happened 12 hrs ago and it’s not getting worse. Not sure if sore or not. It’s not irritation from sex though.

I am sick with guilt. We didn’t realize until after what we have mistakenly done. I feel like I put my bf at risk for hsv2 twice. I cannot sleep and I’m having major depression,guilt and worry. Please someone help. Thank you.

    It is possible, I would check with your doctor to see if the sore is that particular strain of herpes. I think if you play the odds you will find that you both will be ok.

    Whats done is done, genital herpes, herpes on the lip, it can all spread. Kiss him on the eye and it can spread there too. you can spread the herpes virus even if you do not have an outbreak. Considering this is a lifelong problem, I think you should be extra careful from now on.
